Grade 12 students to explore geosciences, mining field

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan- The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. II (MGB ROII) will provide a two-week Work Immersion Program (WIP) to 14 grade 12 students of Tuguegarao City Science High School and Cagayan National High School.

Regional Director Mario A. Ancheta said, “this is our way to encourage them to appreciate more about mining and geology.”

In his message during the Monday flag ceremony, “our immersion students will be taught by our technical staff basic knowledge on what we are doing in the Bureau. We might as well convince them to take geology and mining engineering courses.

The students will be exposed to lectures on general geology, hydrology, Vulnerability Risk Assessment (VRA) data digitization, geographic information systems (GIS), mining, and its social and environmental responsibility.

“We hope to provide learning opportunities to our grade 12 students as well as to let them appreciate the benefits of mining and geosciences,” Ancheta said.
