MGB 2 holds reprogramming workshop for 2023 WFP
Tuguegarao City, Cagayan- The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. II led by RD Mario A. Ancheta conducted a reprogramming workshop for the implementation of the 2023 Work and Financial Plan held yesterday, January 12, 2023 at MGB ROII Conference Hall.
The reprogramming workshop aimed to prepare the technical as well as the support staff of MGB on the implementation of their targets and program of MGB for the year 2023.
The workshop focused on the presentation of the programs and targets of the three technical divisions where RD Ancheta together with the Finance and Administrative (FAD) gave comments on how to implement their Programs/Activities/ Projects (P/A/Ps).
“My appreciation to the whole workforce of MGB Region II for your commitment to your jobs last year, this 2023, let us accomplish all our targets and to continue to work hard as one MGB,” RD Ancheta said during the workshop
MGB 2 passes stage 2 ISO Audit
The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. II led by Regional Director Engr. Mario A. Ancheta successfully passed the Stage 2 ISO Surveillance Audit conducted by the certifying body, Intertek last December 1-2, 2022.
The audit approved the implementation of Quality Management System, Environmental Management System, and Occupational Health and Safety Assessment.
The audit was headed by Karen Ng, team leader and Ken Evardoni.
Another surveillance audit is scheduled on 2023.
MGB 2 conducts Year-end Assessment
The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. II recently conducted its Year-end Assessment of its 2022 accomplishments at MGB ROII Multi-Purpose Hall.
MGB ROII Regional Director Mario A. Ancheta said in his meesage to continue to stay committed to the mandate of the Bureau in ensuring that responsible mining governs the mining industry in the region.
Meanwhile, MGB ROII 2022 accomplishments were reviewed and assessed for the improvement for the next years' operations.
A presentation from each division showed a succesful implementatiof of the FY 2022 programs, activities, and targets of the Bureau.
MGB ROII Budget Officer Aleida Merchi Furagganan presented financial accomplishments of the Bureau.
On the other hand, Engr. Agot Dumanas, Engr. Romeo Watchorna, and Ms. Gypsophila Craig Selvano presented their Division's accomplishments for the fiscal year 2022.
One of the highlights of the accomplishments is passing the stage 2 ISO Surveillance Audit where it approved the implementation of Quality Management System, Environmental Management System, and Occupational Health and Safety Assessment of MGB ROII.
In closing, RD Ancheta thanked his staff for a job well done, "2022 is still a fruitful year for MGB ROII and thank you for accomplishing more what is targeted for this year," RD Ancheta said.
Community Relations confab features corporate social responsibility of mining companies
With the theme: “Building Community Partnerships- Key to Resilience, Reset, and Recovery,” the Philippine Mine Safety and Environment Association (PMSEA) organized the Community Relations Conference held on November 16, 2022 at CAP- John Hay Trade and Cultural Center, CAP John Hay, Baguio City.
Victor G. Obedicen, assistant professor of the University of the Philippines Resilience Institute talked about Building Meaning Relationships with Communities while Executive Director of CEMEX Philippines Foundation, Inc. presented a case study on the critical role of CEMEX during the COVID-19 pandemic.
On the other hand, Kahlil Pope Taberno of Greenstone Resources Corporation discussed the legacy of their company in refining their mining operations, nurturing productive, and self-sustaining communities.
Philex Mining Corporation Vice President for Environment and Community Relations Victor A. Franciso talked about community trust as key element in crisis response.
PMSEA President Louie Sarmiento pointed out that Community Relations is a glue that bind the mining industry and the host communities together during the pandemic.
“The ayuda that our mining companies extended on all forms fortifies the resilience of our host communities, thereby allowing them to ride out of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Sarmiento said in his message.
The ComRel Conference aimed to strengthen community relations of the mining companies by providing a venue to benchmark and discuss current issues and developments in community development.
“Indeed, the theme of the Community Relations Conference is an anchor on how to get back to our faith after the devastating pandemic,” Sarmiento said.
The conference was participated in by the community relations officers of the mining companies and national government agencies, information officers, and other stakeholders in the mining industry.
